The Berimbau is a percussion instrument with African origins. It produces an exotic, melodious sound during the Capoeira circles and festivals.
During the Berimbau Class you will learn how to make and how to play the Berimbau. A professional instructor and percussionist explains the essential parts and elements of the instruments, and then shows the most important rhythms for which the instruments are used for. He teaches you how to construct your own Berimbau, and you will take home your instruments on the last day of the course.
You will have a professional dance instructor by your side during the Samba Dance Classes, trained to work with foreigners and specialized in all kinds of rhythms and dances.
No matter if it is Samba and all of its variations - Samba de Roda, Samba Carioca, Samba Baiano, Pagode - or Forró, the more folkloric dance formations of Saint Johns festivities in June. Or rhythms of African origin - the body moves in perfect harmony with the music. You will be introduced to rhythms of Candomblé rituals, where every God or Godness moves to his own rhythms, having its own songs.
