Pousada do Capao has been selected by DiscoverBrazil as a top accommodation option in the National Park of Chapada Diamantina . The Pousada is located in the Capão valley near the small village of Capao .
The apartments are spacious, rustic and comfortable. They are all equipped with ceiling fans, hammocks, phone, hot water, and balcony. The Pousada has a natural pool and an Indian sauna, offers massages and sandwiches wrapped-to-go for your excursions and field trips to the Chapada. The owner, Sr. Emanoel, receives his guests with a warm welcome and is very friendly and helpful. The Pousada also offers a restaurant, bar, and laundry services.
The Chapada Diamantina and its 1,500 sq. km (580 miles) of mountainous land, canyons and valleys is a natural refuge for innumerous endemic plants, waterfalls, large caves and rivers. Cachoeira da Fumaça (the smoke waterfall) is the highest in Brazil with 340 mts (1,115 ft). It is called the smoke waterfall because the wind blows the water back up and creates the smoke effect. Walking from the village of Capao , the smoke waterfall is located 2 ½ hours away. The view is astonishing and the trip worth the effort. The Morro Pai Inacio plateau is another landmark you can't miss in Chapada Diamantina; this mountain offers the best view of the Chapada and is a great place to watch the sun set.
Visiting the Chapada requires good walking shoes, swimming suit, light clothes, sun block and sunglasses. It would be a good idea to take a backpack with water, sandwich and a change of clothes for those tours where waterfalls are included, and don't forget to bring your camera with lots of films. |
